Rising Star Tyla Dominates MTV EMAs by Clinching Three Major Awards

The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) took place on Sunday, November 10, at Manchester's Co-op Live venue, marking a night of celebration for the music industry's brightest stars. South African sensation Tyla emerged as one of the event's biggest winners, securing three major awards and solidifying her place as a rising global superstar.

Tyla's impressive haul included victories in the Best Afrobeats, Best R&B, and Best African Act categories, showcasing her versatility and widespread appeal. The young artist's wins were particularly notable as she triumphed over established Nigerian acts like Asake, Rema, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Tems in the Afrobeats category. Her success at the EMAs follows the viral popularity of her hit single "Water" and signals a bright future for the talented performer.

While Tyla shone brightly, the night's top honoree was undoubtedly Taylor Swift. The pop icon, who led the nominations with seven nods, walked away with four awards: Best Artist, Best Video for her collaboration with Post Malone on "Fortnight," Best Live Act, and Best U.S. Act. Swift, currently on her record-breaking Eras Tour, expressed her gratitude via video message, thanking fans for recognizing her tour and recent album.

Other notable winners included Sabrina Carpenter, whose catchy track "Espresso" won Best Song, and Ariana Grande, who took home the Best Pop award. Eminem continued his dominance in the hip-hop category by winning Best Hip-Hop, while Liam Gallagher proudly represented Manchester by securing the Best Rock title.

The event, hosted by Rita Ora for a record third time, also featured poignant moments, including a tribute to the late Liam Payne.
