CAF Awards 2024: Lookman, Banda, and Williams Shine on African Football's Biggest Night

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) celebrated the continent's finest football talents at the star-studded 2024 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday. The glittering event honored outstanding performances across various categories in African football for the year.


In the star-studded 2024 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, Ademola Lookman, Barbra Banda, and Ronwen Williams emerged as the top winners, with several other outstanding African footballers recognized for their achievements.

Nigeria's Ademola Lookman claimed the prestigious CAF Men's Player of the Year award, capping off a remarkable season with Atalanta in Italy's Serie A and his contributions to Nigeria's national team. Zambian striker Barbra Banda took home the CAF Women's Player of the Year accolade, recognizing her exceptional performances for Orlando Pride and the Zambian national team.

South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams stood out as a double winner on the night, securing both the Men's Goalkeeper of the Year and the Men's Interclub Player of the Year awards. Williams' spectacular performances, including crucial penalty saves during the Africa Cup of Nations, played a significant role in South Africa's bronze medal finish.

In the women's categories, Sanaâ Mssoudy of Morocco/AS FAR was honored with the Women's Interclub Player of the Year award. Mssoudy's outstanding performances, including being named the Best Player at the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League, contributed to her recognition.

In a special moment, the Goal of the Year award went to Angola's Mabululu for his spectacular finish against Namibia during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The event culminated with the announcement of the CAF-FIFPRO Africa Best XI for both men and women, featuring the continent's top performers in each position.

This year's CAF Awards celebrated not only individual brilliance but also team achievements, highlighting the growing stature and quality of African football on the global stage.
